Default Petition: Ascension is keeping ppl from seeing end-game content.

I have now spent an entire week trying to complete all three trials of ascension. So far I have only done the Dunes. Elona and the River are TOO DAMN HARD. And it would take a week for my guildies to reach ascension to help me. I have begun to hate this game because I can't get past these 2 damn missions. My pettion is for ArenaNet to make these two missions a little easier so ppl dont get burned out. Holler if ya hear me.

I agree with you that they are hard as hell. What i dont agree with is the fact that they should be lowered. I think that they are fine the way they are and it adds a challenge to the game that most people will like. I just had an awesome group go from augury rock to the river, beat it first try, then walk to elona and beat it on the second try. All you have to do is be patient in the missions. You cant just charge in and save the day, you must be smart about stuff. Some people that are doing the missions need to learn this or they will be there forever. Just my thoughts.

Yes, they're difficult, but certainly not impossibly.. I strongly disagree with lowering the difficulty of these missions. So far, Dunes was cake, Elona took a few tries, and River is the hardest, but I wouldn't want any of them to change. Needless to say, it can be done. Besides, waiting a week for your guildies isn't the end of the world, play some PvP, start a new char, or go questing/exploring. There's a lot to do in this game besides continue the mission grind.

Spend some time levelling your clanmates and helping them out. It'll build a closer bond with your guildies and get them to where they can help you faster.

The river was the easyest one for me, knocked it out in one try. This might be because of playing HoH with my pvp char. I alos found the dunes to be easy, only had to do it twice. Elona took about 5 trys, now that one started to get me angry. Not because so the dif, but because of the partys I was in.

If you can find a good group, it goes by much easyer.

P.S. DONT READ IF WANT TO DO IT ON YOUR OWN.

At both you HAVE to have a team that knows what FF is (focus fire). At the river, only consentrate on one bas at a time. Kill any goons that get in your way, but you must kill the priests as soon as possible. After you are done with one base, wait for a multiple of two on the timer (the baddies get rezed every 2 mins) then rinse and repeat.

At elona take the left base first, dont take the bridge. Instead take the back way around, then there are only two groups that you need fight, the patroling ones. Dont fight those two bosses they are not needed. Once you get around to fight the one boss that sits on the first shard, take out the last patroling group first(If you dont, the Boss is not only healing himself, but he has help). Now instead of going back and giving the first shard ot your hero,(if you take it strait back to your hero, the space inbetween the the camps gets over run with badies) take the small passage where you can pick up a priest, this will take you right next to the second base. After that you just have to be aware of your argo and only fight groups that you need to. Once you get the last shard go back the same way you came, and you will only fight about 2-3 groups on your back to your hero.

Hope that helps some.

wow thanks. i read that and decided to try elona again. beat it first try. and i agree, the river was the easiest for me too. what you can do is have a party with a couple of rangers and just pick off the patrols that get too close to the walls of the area. you do this before you take the ghostly hero to the start of the base. i did this and it was incredibly easy.

these missions are all about PATIENCE and knowledge of the spawns. In elona there are a couple of spawns where you need to wait for the exact moment to make sure you only pull what you want. I found that most teams were to busy rushing and being careless, but sometimes you get lucky with a few people that actually know working strategies and teammates that are willing to listen to them.

They're not preventing anybody from doing anything. If they don't ramp the difficulty, the game would be extremely boring.

Ascension would mean nothing if it was a cakewalk.

Oh, one more thing, you could just try going through lornar's pass and skill the desert completely. :-) Good luck.

k stop crying. if the game was super easy you would get bored. be happy that you have something to work towards, that makes getting it even more satisfying. i am pretty satisfied at the difficulty of this game. a little challenge never hurt anyone. oh and if you cant beat some npc's, dont hope do be able to do anything in pvp happy hunting

Yeah, they may be hard, but with a good party it's absolutly possible. And it won't get much easier after that and i like that!

I tried for 8 hours to complete River and Elona ( each) with real people. My guild is quite a ways behind me, so I had to use pick up groups.

Only once in Elona did a real team make it past the minotaur at the beginning and we got wiped jsut before the last crystal ( with 3 minutes left ont he clock, we died.. may not have made it anyway). Yes, most people seem to be that stupid. So I grabbed henchmen and finished it with 15 min left on the clock. Just be patient at the end and avoid patrols. You will have to kill a few, but it shouldnt be a problem. Jus tmake sure to fight them away from roving patrols.

Dunes was super easy. No problems at all.

River was where I had the biggest problem ( probably because I was already burnt out on morons). I tried many times with real people. 2 or 3 groups wiped before we even got to the arenas. Dozens of groups wiped on the 2nd arena because they would not listen to me and kill the priest before the 2 min mark. So I tried with henchmen again and I consistently got to the 3rd arena, but I could not overpower the priest and healer boss healign each other even with interrupts ( im a mesmer). If I had real people, I could lock both healers down, but when I went to lock one down, the henchies switched targets, which gave the other a break to heal. Finally one good group took it down. I was stuck on Thirsty river from 10pm until 6am.

You will feel better once you get to the Dragons lair mission after you ascend. It was so much fun Pretty environment, and it was super easy. You also get a chance for soem elites on the bosses of each area ( 6, one for each proffession). I didnt even have to pay much attention. My henchmen could take anything there with no help at all, rarely did we drop below 50% health at any time, even in the area of health degeneration.

I went from Lion's Arch --> Defeating my Mirror, in one weekend with my warrior/monk. It took me 3 tries on Thirsty River, 1 try on the Dunes, and 2 tries on Elona, all with PUGs

I did the river mission. It is not very difficult especially if you have patience. We had one guy that knew about the mission and the rest of us were basically following his orders. What we did was that before bringing the hero to open the gate of each arena was to go outside the arena and first kill all the enemies that were wondering around with bows and long range spells. This took a long time since we had no ranger and the team was consisting of 2 Wa, 1 Mo, 2 Ele and 1 Healer henchman. The group should know when the resurrection is going to take place, when to kill the outside enemies, and when to kill the priest. I won't pretend that I know since I never bothered about PvP and the onle PvP I got involved so far was in order to get out of the academy.

Ascension is not difficult I did Elona and Dunes with an all henchmen group, and thristy river with a PUG - as for the Mirror Image, he uses w/e skills you bring...I plopped in a bunch of crap skills and some good ones and he went down. Basically, Ascension exists to seperate the boys from the men, and if people think Ascension is hard, or unbeatable...all I have to say is goodluck with the last few missions as they are at least twice as "difficult" as those three missions.

omg the river surely was the easiest just have to time your attacks and look at the clock so you have most time to take a team down and make sure the priest is dead with in the 2 min interval i finished it in one try

so please dont lower the difficulty or there isnt a challenge left in the game

hope there will be harder stuff later on since this wasnt that hard just tink and use strategy

I thought river was the easiest followed by dunes then elona. It took me about 25 times to do elona while the other 2 only took a few. I also beat my mirror self on the second try so didn't really find him to hard either.
